  • August Monthly Meeting

Guest Speakers: Senator Julia Kirt & Representative Andy Fugate

Each fall, lawmakers use interim studies to take a closer look at issues that may shape future policy and legislation. But what exactly is an interim study, which issues are being studied this fall, and why should we be paying attention now?

Join Indivisible Edmond for Between Sessions: What’s Being Studied at the Oklahoma Capitol and Why It Matters.

We’ll talk about how the interim study process works, highlight some of the issues lawmakers are digging into this fall, and look at what these conversations could mean heading into the next legislative session. We’ll also talk about how Oklahomans can follow the process and stay engaged.

Whether you follow the Legislature closely or are still trying to understand how it all works, you’re welcome to join us. Bring your questions and come learn what to watch between sessions.

This event is not sponsored or endorsed by the Metropolitan Library System.

July Monthly Meeting: Food Policy in Oklahoma with Bailey Ashbaker

Food policy is shifting fast at both the state and federal level, and Oklahoma families are feeling it. This month we’re joined by Bailey Ashbaker, Senior Policy & Engagement Specialist at Hunger Free Oklahoma, to break down what’s actually changing, from SNAP to school meals, and what it means for seniors, kids, and families across Oklahoma. Bailey will help us understand the real impacts on the ground and, most importantly, what we can do about it. There will be plenty of time for your questions.
