What’s changing in 2027?
- For those currently enrolled as a SoonerCare Adult, when you renew you will need to document that in at least one of the last 6 months you
- Worked, did community service, or were in an educational program for a least 80 hours, or
- Earned at least $580
- People enrolling in SoonerCare Adult for the first time will have to document that in the month preceding the application they
- Worked, did community service, or were in an educational program for a least 80 hours, or
- Earned at least $580
- Some SoonerCare Adults will not have to document their work or income, here is a partial list
- People younger than 25 who are or were formerly in foster care
- Those who are pregnant and postpartum
- Parents or caretakers of children 13 years old and younger
- Parents or caretakers of individuals with disabilities
- American Indian/Alaskan Native individuals
- Individuals with a health condition that makes it difficult to meet the work requirements
- People with a substance use disorder or disabling mental disorder
- Individuals with a serious or complex medical condition
- Participants in a qualifying addiction or alcohol treatment program
- Individuals who meet TANF work requirements, or receive SNAP and are subject to SNAP work requirements
- Individuals currently incarcerated or incarcerated within the last 3 months

If you don’t currently have health insurance
Depending on your household income you may qualify for SoonerCare. If you are a healthy adult, beginning in 2027, you will be subject to work requirements as outlined above. It will be easier to renew a SoonerCare adult plan than to apply for the first time. See the links at the end of this document to see if you qualify and if so, apply now.
